Loo & Lou Gallery and L’Atelier
Du 30.01.19 au 09.03.19

This exhibition highlights the correspondences between the human beings and the dynamic principle of nature, inherent to each being. « The transformation of violence into beauty », that Fred Kleinberg is taking about, leads to the wild nature, this other organic face of the interiority. In the sense of Cézanne: « The landscape is thought inside me and I am his conscience ». This invocation of nature inscribes the human in a cosmogony in correspondence with the elements and the changes of seasons, the cycles of the moon and the alternation of low and high tides.

The viewer will discovers paintings of landscapes, waterfalls, born of Fred Kleinberg’s imagination, these places are as much reminiscences of his travels as a desire for nature. They are mental landscapes, marked by the absence of any figure. The landscape becomes a screen of the imaginary, a projection space. Therefore the artist expresses his desire to immerse himself and disappear into the earth. He is creating a dialogue on the canvas with the sensations of the landscape: the mist rising in the undergrowth, the lapping of the waves skirting the mass of the rocks, the breathing of the humus. « How to make palpable the life of a leaf, a branch, a trunk, when it becomes as alive as a look. » Fred Kleinberg.

In Fred Kleinberg’s drawings/pastels, the human figure is perceived as a composite body, each part of it is connected to the universe, belonging as well to the kingdom of the plants, the mineral and animals. Understood in his relationship with his natural environment, the human becomes a living interface, suggesting a new alliance between nature and culture.
